AMSTERDAM: Air site visitors at Eindhoven airport within the south of the Netherlands was suspended for a number of hours on Saturday (Nov 22) night attributable to a number of drone sightings, Dutch defence minister Ruben Brekelmans stated in a put up on X.
Site visitors resumed round 11pm native time, Brekelmans stated, two hours after he had first reported the disruption.
“Defence has taken measures,” the minister stated. “Out of safety issues no additional data could be shared.”
The Dutch navy on Friday night had used weapons in opposition to drones sighted above the air power base in Volkel, some 40km northeast of Eindhoven, the defence ministry had stated earlier on Saturday.
Eindhoven serves each as a civilian and as a navy airport. All kinds of air site visitors have been suspended, Brekelmans stated.
Requested if it was clear the place the drones had come from, the defence ministry had no extra remark.
