    ‘Tragic event’: Indiana sheriff’s deputy fatally struck while assisting stranded motorist

    A semitruck fatally struck a sheriff’s deputy in Indiana whereas he was helping a stranded motorist alongside an interstate, in response to native officers.

    “This can be a heartbreaking loss for our regulation enforcement household and for your entire Delaware County neighborhood,” Jeff Stanley, the chief deputy for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Workplace, stated in a press release on Wednesday.

    The tragedy occurred within the early hours of Wednesday morning, after officers obtained calls at roughly 3:30 a.m. of a disabled automobile alongside Interstate 69, officers stated.

    The Delaware County sheriff’s deputy, who was recognized as Corporal Blake Reynolds, responded to the scene and located a semitruck partially within the roadway, officers stated.

    The deputy stopped behind the disabled automobile to “present safety for the motive force” and activated his emergency lights, Indiana State Police Sgt. Scott Keegan stated throughout a press convention on Wednesday.
