BEIJING: China suspended an export ban to the US that had focused gallium, germanium and antimony, metals essential for contemporary know-how, together with semiconductors, Beijing’s commerce ministry introduced on Sunday (Nov 9).
The restrictions banned the export of so-called “dual-use” items, supplies that may have each civilian and army purposes.
Imposed in December 2024, the ban will now be suspended till Nov 27, 2026, Beijing’s commerce ministry stated in a press release.
The announcement comes after leaders Xi Jinping and Donald Trump met on October 30 in South Korea and agreed to stroll again some punitive measures imposed throughout their tit-for-tat tariff escalation.
At one level, duties on each side reached prohibitive triple-digit ranges, hampering commerce between the world’s two largest economies and snarling international provide chains.
All through the commerce warfare, China has sought to leverage its chokehold over the crucial minerals underpinning all the pieces from smartphones to superior army know-how.
