    Trump hits Russian oil companies with long-threatened sanctions: ‘It was time’

    President Donald Trump on Wednesday mentioned he felt it “was time” to hit Russia with more durable sanctions, a serious escalation amid his newest push to stress Vladimir Putin into ending his battle on Ukraine.

    “At this time is a really huge day by way of what we’re doing. These are super sanctions. These are very huge,” Trump mentioned as he met with NATO Secretary-Basic Mark Rutte within the Oval Workplace. “They’re in opposition to their two huge oil corporations, and we hope that they will not be on for lengthy.     The sanctions come after Trump reversed course and mentioned he known as off a second summit with Russia’s Putin that had been anticipated to happen in Hungary within the coming weeks. The Kremlin mentioned there was by no means a date set for a summit.
