    Singapore Red Cross hands over S$1.2m in humanitarian aid for Palestinian evacuees in Egypt

    SINGAPORE: The Singapore Purple Cross (SRC) has handed over S$1.2 million (US$934,295) value of humanitarian help for Palestinian evacuees in Egypt.

    The present help tranche contains a beforehand introduced S$440,000 value of tents and a brand new dedication of S$758,000 for important medical and academic companies for the evacuees.

    The symbolic handover of donations was witnessed by Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

    Benjamin William, SRC’s secretary-general and CEO, stated along with the Egyptian Purple Crescent, the “tranche of help represents our unwavering dedication to making sure that displaced youngsters can proceed to study and that households obtain the medical care they urgently want”. 

    “We consider that entry to schooling and healthcare isn’t solely a basic want but in addition a lifeline of dignity and hope for these rebuilding their lives. 

    “In the meantime, we are going to do what we will to proceed our reduction efforts for the displaced communities inside Gaza,” stated Mr William.

    The battle in Gaza – triggered by Hamas-led assaults in Israel on Oct 7, 2023 – has seen greater than 65,000 Palestinians killed, in line with Gazan well being authorities.
