    Trump issues vague threat to Afghanistan over Bagram air base

    WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump on Saturday (Sep 20) threatened Afghanistan with unspecified punishment if the Taliban-controlled nation didn’t “give Bagram Airbase back”.

    “If Afghanistan would not give Bagram Airbase again to those who constructed it, the USA of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!” the 79-year-old chief wrote on his Fact Social platform.

    The imprecise risk comes simply days after he raised the thought of the USA retaking management of the bottom whereas on a state visit to the United Kingdom.

    Bagram, the biggest air base in Afghanistan, was a linchpin of the US-led battle effort in opposition to the Taliban, whose authorities Washington toppled following the Sep 11, 2001 assaults on the USA.

    A large, sprawling facility, Amnesty Worldwide, Human Rights Watch and others have repeatedly raised allegations of systematic human rights abuses by US forces at Bagram, particularly pertaining to detainees in Washington’s murky “Battle on Terror”.

    Trump has typically lamented the lack of entry to Bagram, noting its proximity to China, however Thursday was the primary time he had made public that he was engaged on the matter.

    “We’re making an attempt to get it again, by the best way, that could possibly be a bit breaking information. We’re making an attempt to get it again as a result of they want issues from us,” Trump stated at a press convention with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
