    Paramount criticises pledge by entertainers to boycott Israeli film institutions

    The pledge from earlier this week stated it was not urging anybody to cease working with Israeli people however as an alternative “the decision is for movie employees to refuse to work with Israeli establishments which are complicit in Israel’s human rights abuses.”

    Israeli movie establishments had engaged in “whitewashing or justifying” abuse of Palestinians, it stated, drawing parallels with how entertainers had made an analogous pledge previously towards apartheid-era South Africa.

    Signatories included actors Olivia Colman, Emma Stone, Mark Ruffalo, Tilda Swinton, Riz Ahmed, Javier Bardem, and Cynthia Nixon, amongst others.
