    Palestinian factions in Lebanon hand over truckloads of weapons from largest refugee camp

    SIDON: Palestinian factions in two refugee camps in Lebanon handed over truckloads of weapons to authorities on Saturday (Sep 13) as a part of a deal reached earlier this year to remove arms not below Lebanese state management.

    The newest switch of weapons, which has been gradual because it started final month, befell within the Ein el-Hilweh refugee camp, the most important in Lebanon, close to the southern port metropolis of Sidon, and the Beddawi refugee camp close to the northern metropolis of Tripoli.

    State-run Nationwide Information Company and a Palestinian spokesman mentioned three vehicles stuffed with weapons from the Beddawi camp had been headed to a Lebanese military barracks inside Tripoli.

    The spokesman for the Palestinian Nationwide Safety Forces in Lebanon, Abdul Hadi al-Assadi, mentioned in an announcement that 5 truckloads of weapons had been additionally handed over at Ein el-Hilweh. He mentioned the weapons belonged to factions which might be a part of the Palestine Liberation Group.

    Over the previous few weeks, weapons had been handed over to Lebanese troops in camps in Beirut and the southern province of Tyre.
