    South Korean president vows support to Koreans arrested in US immigration raid

    SEOUL: South Korean President Lee Jae Myung ordered all-out efforts on Saturday (Sep 6) to swiftly reply to the arrests of a whole bunch of the nation’s residents in a US immigration raid on a Hyundai Motor car battery factory.

    International Minister Cho Hyun stated the federal government has arrange a crew to answer Thursday’s arrest of over 300 Koreans on the facility within the southern state of Georgia and that he might go to Washington to fulfill with officers if wanted.

    “I’m deeply involved. I really feel heavy accountability for the arrests of our residents,” Cho informed an emergency authorities assembly.

    The incident may exacerbate tensions between the Trump administration and Seoul, a key Asian ally and investor. They’ve been at odds over the main points of a commerce deal that features US$350 billion of South Korean funding in the USA.

    WORKERS SHACKLED

    A video launched by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed Asian staff shackled on the wrists, waist, and ankles getting on a bus after the raid, which concerned a helicopter and armoured automobiles.

    The arrest of some 475 staff, together with over 300 Koreans, on the plant close to Savannah, a part of President Donald Trump’s escalating crackdown on immigrants, was the biggest single-site enforcement operation within the US Division of Homeland Safety’s historical past.

    Within the video, a whole bunch of staff had been standing up in entrance of a constructing, with some carrying yellow vests with names corresponding to “Hyundai” and “LG CNS”.
