    Because the Trump administration prepares an executive order to ban mail-in voting and require voter identification, Maine’s Democrat secretary of state admitted non-citizen residents are registered to vote in her state.

    “I’m positive there are, in some remoted incidents, some non-citizens could also be on the rolls,” stated Shenna Bellows, who’s working for Maine governor in 2026.

    This comes after Maine refused to adjust to Department of Justice’s current request to make sure Maine’s voter rolls are clear.

    “Shenna Bellows totally admitted that non-citizens are registered to vote in Maine’s elections, and but she refuses to scrub up the voter rolls,” Republican National Committee press secretary Kiersten Pels informed The Daily Signal. “Bellows is undermining Maine voters along with her lack of transparency and blatant disregard for the regulation.”

    In July 2025, the DOJ requested info from Bellows relating to Maine’s upkeep procedures for complying with the statewide voter registration listing provisions of the Nationwide Voter Registration Act.

    The act requires every state to make obtainable for inspection “all information in regards to the implementation of packages and actions carried out for the aim of making certain the accuracy and foreign money of official lists of eligible voters.”

    Bellows refused to adjust to the DOJ’s letter.

    “The Gulf of Maine is terribly chilly, however possibly that’s what the DOJ wants to chill down,” she stated. “So, right here’s my reply to Trump’s DOJ at present: go soar within the Gulf of Maine.”

    Although Bellows was unwilling to work with the DOJ, she did ship Maine’s voter rolls to ERIC, a far-left non-profit that has confronted knowledge privateness breach considerations.

    Bellows has opposed Republican election integrity previously. In 2024, she tried to take away President Donald Trump from Maine’s major election poll, evaluating blocking Trump from the ballot to rejecting candidates who don’t meet different stipulations, just like the constitutional age requirement.

    “Her failure to behave and reckless partisanship exhibits she’s extra desirous about attacking President Trump than defending Maine’s elections,” Pels stated.
