WASHINGTON — A fireplace broke out Wednesday on the USS New Orleans warship off the coast of Okinawa, Japan, leaving two sailors with minor accidents.
The hearth on the amphibious transport dock ship has been extinguished and its trigger is below investigation, the U.S. Navy’s seventh Fleet mentioned in a press release.
The hearth on the 684-foot-long vessel lasted nearly 12 hours, igniting as the usNew Orleans was in water close to White Seashore Naval Facility in Okinawa.
Sailors on the ship bought assist preventing the fireplace from the crew of the usSan Diego, one other warships that transports troops and plane, in addition to the Japanese coast guard and army.
