To the editor: In an announcement on the Aug. 4 warehouse celebration capturing, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass stated: “This mindless violence and lack of life is devastating and people who are accountable should be held accountable. There will likely be no tolerance for violence on this metropolis. My ideas are with the victims and their households. We are going to proceed to work collectively to maintain L.A. protected” (“2 dead, 6 wounded in ‘senseless’ mass shooting at warehouse party in downtown L.A.,” Aug. 4).

No slam in opposition to Bass meant, however I’m pretty positive her quote might have been copied, nearly verbatim, from any variety of involved native politicians 10, 20, 30 and even 50 years in the past right here in Los Angeles.

Progress on gun management? We’ve got met the enemy and he’s us.
