    BRUSSELS: The European Union and the USA might attain a framework deal on commerce this weekend, ending months of uncertainty for European trade, EU officers and diplomats mentioned on Friday (Jul 25).

    The deal would seemingly embody a 15 per cent baseline tariff on all EU items coming into the USA and possibly a 50 per cent tariff on European metal and aluminium, the officers and diplomats mentioned.

    US President Donald Trump on Friday mentioned there was a 50-50 probability or maybe much less that the USA would attain a commerce settlement with the European Union, including that Brussels wished to “make a deal very badly”.

    One of many sources mentioned a weekend deal appeared seemingly because the “settlement is principally within the palms of Trump now.”

    A supply accustomed to the negotiations mentioned there was a “good probability” European Fee President Ursula von der Leyen would meet Trump in Scotland over the weekend.
