To the editor: Local weather columnist Sammy Roth’s newest take a look at the conversion of farmland to photo voltaic and issues with the Williamson Act factors to how California has a few of the most efficient attorneys within the nation (“California needs a little less farmland, a lot more solar power,” July 24). They crafted the Williamson Act, which Roth’s previous article on the subject confirmed to be largely ineffective and pointless. Now, they’re having bother getting previous the unfavourable results the Williamson Act has on utilizing protected farmland for photo voltaic manufacturing. What a multitude.

Photo voltaic, in contrast to land conversion for housing and different makes use of, is short-term, and the photo voltaic farms will be simply eliminated and recycled and the land put again into farming. Why not simply declare that photo voltaic farming is farming in order that the Williamson Act isn’t touched?
