    Germany condemns China for targeting German aircraft with laser in EU operation

    BERLIN: Germany summoned the Chinese language ambassador to the overseas ministry on Tuesday (Jul 8) after saying China’s navy had focused a German plane with a laser. The plane was collaborating in a European Union operation known as ASPIDES, which goals to guard maritime safety.

    “Placing German personnel in danger and disrupting the operation is totally unacceptable,” stated Germany’s overseas ministry on social media platform X.

    No additional info was instantly out there.

    The incident comes as fears mount within the EU about Chinese language affect on essential applied sciences and safety infrastructure in Europe.

    There was no rapid response from the European Fee or China’s overseas ministry, and the Chinese language embassy in Berlin didn’t instantly reply to an emailed request for remark.

    The EU’s ASPIDES mission contributes to the safety of freedom of navigation and maritime safety, particularly for service provider and business vessels within the Purple Sea, the Indian Ocean and the Gulf beneath the EU’s frequent safety and defence coverage.
