    SEOUL: North Korea has slammed US President Donald Trump’s “Golden Dome” missile shield plan as a “very harmful” menace that goals to weaponise area, state media reported on Tuesday (Might 27).

    Pyongyang’s overseas ministry has issued a memorandum calling the system “a really harmful ‘threatening initiative’ aimed toward threatening the strategic safety of the nuclear weapons states”, the Korean Central Information Company (KCNA) stated.

    Trump introduced new particulars and preliminary funding for the missile defend system final week, calling it “crucial for the success and even survival of our nation”.

    The initiative faces important technical and political challenges, in line with analysts, and will come at a hefty price ticket.

    The memorandum by nuclear-armed North Korea accused the US of being “hell-bent on the strikes to militarise outer area”, KCNA stated.

    “The US plan for constructing a brand new missile defence system is the foundation reason for sparking off international nuclear and area arms race by stimulating the safety issues of nuclear weapons states and turning the outer area into a possible nuclear battle subject,” it added.

    Washington – Seoul’s key safety ally – has lately ramped up joint navy workout routines and elevated the presence of strategic US belongings, comparable to an plane service and a nuclear-powered submarine, within the area to discourage the North.

    Pyongyang has repeatedly declared itself an “irreversible” nuclear weapons state and routinely denounces joint US-South Korea drills as rehearsals for invasion.
