ANTALYA: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated on Thursday (Might 15) the one approach a breakthrough will occur within the efforts to end Russia’s war in Ukraine could be by way of direct talks between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, after Moscow despatched a second-tier staff to talks in Türkiye.

Rubio, who spoke to reporters in Antalya, stated he would journey to Istanbul for conferences on Friday with Türkiye’s International Minister Hakan Fidan and a Ukrainian delegation, however stated he didn’t have excessive expectations for the talks.

“I do not assume we will have a breakthrough right here till the president (Trump) and President Putin work together instantly on this subject,” Rubio stated, echoing earlier feedback from Trump.

The highest US diplomat described the present state of the talks to finish the warfare as a “logjam,” and stated Trump was the one one who can break it.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had traveled to Türkiye after Putin proposed talks there, earlier than the Russian president determined in opposition to touring to the talks himself.

Putin as an alternative dispatched a second-tier staff of aides and deputy ministers to Istanbul.
