To the editor: Kudos to columnist Patt Morrison for her well timed reminder that artwork censorship has lengthy been a instrument of authoritarian authorities (“‘Degenerate’ or ‘woke,’ Paris museum exhibit shows what happens to art in the crosshairs of politics,” Might 7). Through the American tradition wars in 1991, LACMA curator Stephanie Barron organized the primary main exhibition about Nazi artwork coverage, “‘Degenerate Artwork’: The Destiny of the Avant-Garde in Nazi Germany.” Right now, a number of intimate theaters are presenting anti-authoritarian performs in Los Angeles as a part of Reflections on Artwork and Democracy. These native artists can afford to be daring as a result of most of them don’t obtain federal funding. Hold resisting, Los Angeles artists!

To the editor: Thanks, Morrison, for evaluating President Trump’s “improper ideology” artwork obsession to Adolf Hitler’s “degenerate” artwork obsession. Isn’t the aim of artwork to replicate humanity? Isn’t the aim of artwork to encourage dialogue? Isn’t the aim of artwork to share our inventive endeavors? Hitler couldn’t destroy artwork that he didn’t like. Trump won’t ever be capable of actually destroy artwork that he doesn’t like.
