To the editor: Thanks for prominently that includes the termination of federal monies to libraries on the entrance web page of your California part (“California libraries losing millions in funding after Trump terminates federal grant,” April 4). Though not as far-reaching, maybe, as cuts to USAID or the U.S. Division of Schooling, the elimination of Library Companies and Know-how Act grant funds will affect library companies to hundreds of individuals all through California.

I’m retired now, however for 10 years labored for the California State Library, which distributes federal library funds statewide. I administered and monitored many LSTA grants and assessed their optimistic outcomes. I noticed hundreds of younger individuals profit from the state’s after-school homework assist packages, in addition to its extremely efficient summer time studying program. I used to be additionally proud that the library helped veterans constructively have interaction with their communities. California wants its libraries and the LSTA funds that help them.

To the editor: The Trump administration has simply terminated the $15.7-million California State Library grant, which benefited little one literacy, studying packages for veterans and work-readiness packages. To place this in perspective, Trump goes to Florida on many weekends to play golf, costing taxpayers tens of millions every time, according to The Guardian. In different plain English phrases, “Do as I say, not as I do.”

To the editor: It ought to come as no nice shock that the Trump administration is slicing funds to libraries. President Trump and his MAGA bros don’t need individuals to learn, or to assume, or to ask questions, or to study of us totally different from themselves, or to develop empathy for others, or to dream of a greater world — one by which all individuals are valued and revered — and what’s essential to realize that. The place can all of this occur? In a library!
