Even after a century, the closing of the Unique Pantry Cafe comes too quickly (“The Original Pantry Cafe closes after over 100 years,” March 3). When the long-lasting downtown institution closed its doorways Sunday, part of Los Angeles historical past was misplaced.

I stand in solidarity with the workers and their union for combating for stability and job safety. Such a disgrace that an settlement couldn’t be reached, however once more, we see that revenue triumphed over folks. The devoted and hardworking workers and servers, a lot of whom labored there for many years, made the restaurant what it was.

For my household, the Unique Pantry was a staple. My dad had been a patron for over 50 years, and he made me a daily for the previous 20. Like numerous Angelenos and vacationers, I’ll miss the Pantry’s pancakes, parts and, most of all, the folks.
