To the editor: I agree with the letter author from South Dakota that Individuals are involved concerning the nationwide debt and need our authorities to behave in a fiscally accountable approach. Nevertheless, to bestow this job upon an unelected billionaire with no authorities expertise is the antithesis of duty. (“The big picture on Trump might be darker than anyone realizes,” letters, Feb. 9)

Fiscal insurance policies start with the president’s proposed price range, which President Trump has not but offered. Congress considers that price range, votes on laws and appropriates cash. The judicial department can resolve on the legality or constitutionality of insurance policies.

Nowhere within the Structure does it say that an unelected particular person can arbitrarily seize management of quite a few businesses and hearth workers with out trigger. Fiscal coverage and administration are sophisticated processes that can’t be responsibly effectuated in lower than three weeks, as Elon Musk has tried to do.

If Musk, Trump and Republicans in Congress had been actually involved concerning the debt, the primary motion they might take can be to extend taxes on rich people similar to Trump and Musk. Democrats have been making an attempt to do that, however Republicans have all the time blocked this honest and accountable coverage as a result of their capacity to remain in workplace has relied on undertaxing the rich.

    ..

To the editor: A letter author says that what the unelected billionaire Musk is doing to the U.S. authorities is “widespread sense.”

This conclusion takes my breath away as a result of it implies that regardless of the Trump authorities says it does for the widespread good is certainly for the widespread good. No questions. No evaluation. No investigation. If the Trump administration says it’s doing good, vital stuff, then it have to be.

That may be a certain path to dictatorship. I pray that’s not what the American individuals need.
