He stated that he was seated towards the entrance of the aircraft and noticed a younger man strolling as much as a flight attendant with a pill to indicate her one thing. The flight attendant instantly known as the cockpit, Sheen stated, and shortly the pilot introduced that the flight can be returning to the gate as a result of an “administrative situation.”

Within the meantime, the crew had reported the incident to the Austin Police Division and the Division of Aviation.

A lieutenant from Austin PD then got here onboard and advised passengers the renaming was not humorous, Sheen advised ABC Information, recalling that the official stated: “If this can be a joke, please increase your hand now, as a result of we are able to cope with the sensible joke otherwise than if this, if we have now to do a full blown investigation of what is going on on right here.”

Steen stated nobody raised their arms — and everybody was escorted off the aircraft in teams by the Austin PD.

At one level, each passenger needed to present their hotspot to law enforcement officials, Sheen stated.

The Transportation Safety Administration stated in a press release to ABC Information that the company and its companions within the transportation sector “take bomb threats very significantly.”

“All passengers and their checked baggage have been rescreened,” the TSA confirmed.

Canines sniffed all the bags and the police checked the bags compartment on the aircraft, Sheen advised ABC Information.

After the plane and baggage have been swept for explosives, the plane was cleared by the Austin PD.

The flight departed round 6:15 p.m. native time, based on airport officers.

Austin Airport stated there have been no vital impacts to airport or airline operations, apart from the delayed flight that was concerned within the incident.
