To the editor: I’m a registered Democrat, and since President Trump’s inauguration, I’ve vowed to take a look at the present administration’s selections “from each side now” (to borrow a quote from Joni Mitchell).

I agree with everything Robin Abcarian writes about Trump still being wrong even though he won, however I’ve one factor so as to add. Although Democrats disagree with lots of Trump’s coverage selections and government actions, we have to power ourselves to seek out one thing to attempt to authentically agree with. This course of begins with making an attempt to consider it’s attainable for Trump to make some selections that will plausibly be within the nation’s finest curiosity.

If we will’t discover such a choice at present, maybe we’ll tomorrow. I’m not saying we’ll obtain the objective of opening our minds. I’m solely saying that we have now to attempt to take action.

It’s troublesome however not not possible for our minds to embrace a excessive degree of dissonance whereas retaining equilibrium, however the activity is upon us to take action. We can’t spend the following 4 years ignoring all the pieces accomplished by this administration, nor raging in opposition to it at each flip.

To the editor: I hail Abcarian for saying she isn’t fallacious to oppose Trump. I really feel precisely as she has defined in her column and albeit in all items I learn from her.

Ms. Abcarian, please proceed to talk your thoughts and state the reality, as most Californians really feel the identical means.

Sadly, there are too many who simply don’t see the forest for the timber. Not till their wallets or their households are affected by Trump and his administration will (some) consider what is definitely occurring to this nation.

I’m so grateful for Abcarian’s column.

To the editor: MAGA is bombarding Episcopal Bishop of Washington Mariann Budde with vitriol as a result of she did what a member of the clergy is meant to do from behind the pulpit — remind members of the congregation of their duties as Christians.

Asking Trump to be merciful towards the powerless was a moderately benign request. Exhibiting compassion to your fellow human beings is a key message from the Sermon on the Mount.

Likelihood is Trump has no concept what the Beatitudes are. “Blessed are the merciful” is one in every of them.
