WASHINGTON: Donald Trump’s prime nationwide safety advisor stated flatly Sunday (Jan 19) that Hamas militants won’t ever once more govern Gaza.

“They can’t be a terrorist group any longer, and they’re going to by no means govern Gaza. Interval,” Mike Waltz stated on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Waltz, a former member of Congress and veteran of two fight excursions in Afghanistan, was talking simply hours after a long-negotiated ceasefire took impact within the devastated Palestinian territory.

Regardless of appreciable uncertainty over how the ceasefire develops, and the way Gaza’s restoration and longer-term stability might be assured, Waltz expressed cautious optimism.

“Look, Israel goes to do what it has to do to verify. And the USA, below the Trump administration, will help them, that Hamas by no means governs Gaza once more,” he stated.

“That does not imply there will not be pockets (of Hamas resistance). That does not imply there will not be ongoing combating, however it’s going to be a tough street forward.”
