The absurdly lengthy record is not even the worst of Philadelphia’s harm woes.
On Monday, quarterback Jalen Hurts (blood clots) was dominated out for the season. He was initially dominated out of final Saturday’s 25-14 loss to the Carolina Panthers with a superficial blood clot, thrusting third-year quarterback Tanner McKee, who beforehand began two Week 18 video games, into the QB1 function. The 2023 sixth-round decide (No. 188 total) accomplished 57.8 p.c of his passes for 215 yards (4.8 yards per try) and a landing.
Smith and Wicks had been his main huge receivers, combining for 99 yards, together with 75 yards and a landing from Smith on 14 targets. Their absences will put rookie first-rounder (No. 20 total) Makai Lemon and 2025 undrafted free agent Darius Cooper in outstanding roles, giving Philly an opportunity to see what every can do because it braces for a possible rebuild.
Cooper has been one of many few shiny spots on an offense that ranks No. 28 in scoring, coming into Week 7 with eight receptions, 139 yards and 4 touchdowns. Lemon, in the meantime, has disillusioned after being thought-about arguably the most effective receiver within the 2026 class. Per Sumer Sports data, he ranks 84th amongst 87 wideouts who’ve run at the very least 100 routes in yards per route run (0.64), gaining 127 yards on 18 receptions (7.1 yards per reception).
Veteran Hollywood Brown, taking part in on a one-year minimal contract, has solely been lively in a single recreation whereas taking part in 17 snaps however might be moved into a bigger function out of necessity. With an enormous recreation, he may turn into enticing to contenders forward of the Nov. 10 commerce deadline.
The 2026 season is shortly changing into a misplaced trigger for the Eagles (2-4), who’ve misplaced 4 in a row. But as bleak as issues are, in a division the place no group has gained a recreation in two weeks, Philadelphia continues to be in rivalry for an NFC East title.
The primary-place New York Giants (3-2-1) are 10-point underdogs in Week 7 on the highway in opposition to the Houston Texans (2-4) in quarterback J.J. McCarthy’s first begin, probably giving the Eagles an opportunity to tug nearer within the standings by the point the Cowboys come to city. And with New York and Philadelphia scheduled for Week 8, issues may look so much completely different in a rush.
These chances are high slim, nevertheless, with a strong portion of the Eagles roster on the harm report and several other key contributors already dominated out or prone to be lower than 100%. To win on Monday, Philadelphia goes to want all the assistance it could get.
