Indian authorities have requested Bollywood actor Imran Khan to depart the nation by the top of the month, saying he breached immigration legal guidelines after becoming a member of a protest towards the election fee chief, native media reported on Thursday (Oct 15).

Khan, 43, is a US citizen, the Indian Specific newspaper reported. Below Indian regulation, foreigners’ participation in political protests could also be handled as a violation of immigration and visa guidelines.

He was given till October 28 to depart the nation, the Instances of India newspaper stated.

The actor participated in a rally in Mumbai on October 10, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over voter record revisions that critics and opposition events say favour Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s celebration.

“Apparently I’m going for a drive,” the actor wrote on his Instagram on the identical day, with an image of him posing with a victory signal at the back of what appeared like a police van.
