The Washington Submit is in a significant tough spot. The as soon as iconic publication has lost a ton of its traffic since 2021 and their unhinged lefty writers are deserting them.
Now they’re trying to rebrand. They’re dropping their ‘democracy dies in darkness’ slogan in favor of a brand new one which’s not significantly better.
It’s not clear how that is supposed to show round their dropping streak.

The assertion is supposed to be an inside rallying level for workers, in line with two individuals with information of the choice. Executives usually are not planning to switch its extra strident public slogan. Suzi Watford, The Submit’s chief technique officer, has been previewing it to some workers this week.
The brand new mission assertion comes amid turmoil within the newsroom. Since June, The Submit has been reeling from a sequence of crises that has resulted in widespread dissatisfaction with Will Lewis, the corporate’s chief govt. On Wednesday, greater than 400 workers despatched a letter to Jeff Bezos, the paper’s billionaire proprietor, requesting a gathering to debate management selections that they mentioned “led readers to query the integrity of this establishment” and that “prompted a few of our most distinguished colleagues to depart.”
Perhaps they’ve a much bigger drawback than slogans.
Until the mission includes eliminating partisan narrative driving, WaPo will proceed to be the grasp of its personal demise.
