To the editor: Columnist Jonah Goldberg’s try and painting Israel as a sufferer of unreasonable and, by implication, unfair consideration in its relentless assault on the Palestinian inhabitants is actually risible (“While the world is on fire, the media are still obsessed with Israel,” Sept. 22). Goldberg deploys the “what about” argument in an absurd effort to counsel that the press ignores different worldwide conflicts whereas dwelling on Israel’s egregious conduct within the occupied territories. Goldberg must be reminded that the eye the battle receives by the media is, partly, as a result of the U.S., not like within the different conflicts he lists, is a primary provider of munitions to the Israeli Protection Federation and is subsequently complicit within the destruction of Gaza.

Goldberg means that we shouldn’t consider the mainstream information experiences documenting the brutal aggression by Israeli forces in Gaza and unhinged settler violence in the West Bank. The reporting, Goldberg insists, is just not goal; it’s biased. However he fails to offer any proof to help that doubtful declare.

Goldberg’s unstated underlying assumption is that the criticism of Israeli misconduct is factually unfounded, pushed by antisemitism. He would have us consider Israel is just not at fault and, opposite to experiences within the worldwide press, has not launched an arguably genocidal marketing campaign in opposition to Palestinian civilians. Below that pretense, the “extreme” consideration paid by the media to Israel’s misconduct could be irrational and unwarranted.
