To the editor: Thanks for the wonderful piece concerning the coyote in Studio Metropolis (“Shooting of beloved Studio City coyote Wendy sparks hunt for justice,” Sept. 9).
Predators within the midst of our all-consuming city sprawl, together with coyotes, endure largely resulting from bigotry motivated by ignorance and lack of safety. The companies they supply, together with retaining rodents underneath management, justify safety. Rodents can function vectors for sicknesses.
I usually hear that coyotes are vicious and harmful. Not true. Whereas coyotes sometimes prey on small pets, assaults on people are extremely rare. We usually tend to be attacked by fellow people than by coyotes. Pets wouldn’t be preyed upon if adequately protected by their homeowners.
We have to defend wildlife habitat and pure locations the place predators can thrive. We are able to coexist with this native species, offering safety individually and to their packs and their habitat.

To the editor: Coyotes are vilified for being hungry; they’re seen as imply and cruel. Starvation is just not meanness.
Naming wildlife as in the event that they have been pets doesn’t assist the conundrum we’re in. This rubbish attracts bears and rodents that coyotes prefer to hunt.
Individuals must do higher. Coyotes will at all times be hungry.
