To the editor: Making an attempt to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America is simply one other little bit of President Trump foolishness we’ll undo largely by ignoring (“Trump signs order renaming Lake Ontario as ‘Lake America’ in the United States,” Aug. 27). We’ll have a brand new Congress quickly, hopefully together with the Senate, after which in January 2029, we’ll transfer past his damaging silliness.
Our republic will survive and thrive as a house of liberty, decency and fact-based rationality.

Oops, I forgot. A mere lake is just too small a physique of water to accommodate Trump’s ego.

To the editor: Bear in mind after we had been all in class and used the acronym H.O.M.E.S. to recollect the names of our Nice Lakes? Now that Trump has unilaterally determined to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America, I’d counsel we now train college students the acronym S.H.A.M.E. to recollect the lakes’ names. It resonates on so many ranges!
