    Iran live updates: US ‘low-keying’ negotiations with Iran, Trump says

    Iranian International Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei stated at a press convention on Monday that there are not any direct negotiations ongoing between Iran and the U.S.

    Present communications are restricted solely to the trade of messages by way of intermediaries, Baqaei stated. He added that Tehran’s focus is now “on advancing negotiations with Oman to find out the ultimate vacation spot of the transport route” by way of the Strait of Hormuz.

    “Administration and safety of the Strait of Hormuz is Iran’s accountability,” Baqaei stated, including that Tehran won’t permit the strategic waterway to reopen except the U.S. agrees to key Iranian calls for, amongst them reconstruction funding and the lifting of sanctions.

    “In accordance with the agreements, the earlier site visitors routes will probably be changed by a center and protected route, which is able to act as a brief route till a brand new site visitors separation plan is reached,” Baqaei stated of the plan underneath dialogue by Iran and Oman.

    “The principle objective of the continuing diplomatic negotiations is to achieve an enduring understanding with Oman to determine full safety on this very important waterway,” he stated.
