To the editor: As somebody who has spent years working along with fellow Chinatown residents by the general public evaluation course of for the proposed gondola, I discovered this column to be a deeply one-sided account of a much more advanced dialog (“Dodger Stadium gondola plan about to hit heavy turbulence as state park defenders play hardball,” Aug. 1).

It ignores the numerous residents, small enterprise house owners and neighborhood organizations who’ve spent years advocating for the venture as a result of they see it as a chance to put money into Chinatown’s future. For many people, that is about greater than a gondola. It’s about investing in a neighborhood that has too usually been missed, supporting small enterprise, connecting areas and a uncommon alternative for Chinatown to form its future slightly than be displaced by it.

The general public deserves to listen to from all sides of the controversy, not simply those that oppose it. It’s maddening to see our voices silenced. By failing to acknowledge the coalition of Chinatown voices which have supported this venture and labored to safe significant neighborhood advantages, Steve Lopez’s column presents an incomplete narrative that does a disservice to Los Angeles Occasions readers and the neighborhood itself.

    Enrique Pineda, Los Angeles

    ..

To the editor: I learn Lopez’s column and thought, “right here we go once more.” As a lifelong San Fernando Valley resident, entry to parks isn’t one thing we take as a right. The Valley has a few of the worst park deficits within the Los Angeles space. In neighborhoods like Van Nuys and Panorama Metropolis, households have entry to solely a fraction of the parkland that specialists suggest.

That’s why I don’t perceive why leaders are being urged to deal with an important downtown park as if making it accessible is a foul factor. Public parks ought to serve all Angelenos. A household from the Valley ought to really feel simply as welcome spending a day there as anybody else — whether or not they’re heading to a Dodgers sport or just on the lookout for a spot the place their children can run and play.

With so little inexperienced house throughout our metropolis, each nice park must be shared. Is L.A. not for all?

    Steve Martinez, Panorama Metropolis

    ..

To the editor: I stay only a brief distance from Los Angeles State Historic Park. Regardless of residing so shut, attending to the park has by no means been as simple accurately.

Lopez’s column targeted nearly solely on those that oppose the venture. I want he had additionally spoken with residents like me who see this as an funding in our neighborhood and a chance to make the park extra welcoming and accessible for the those who stay beside it each day.

    Heidi Rodriguez, Los Angeles
