To the editor: Having attended many live shows at our stunning Hollywood Bowl over the a long time, I’m an enormous fan of the improved sound (“The Hollywood Bowl’s beast of a new sound system is a work in progress,” July 16). I not must pressure to listen to a few of the softer or extra muted measures. I’m not distracted by knocked-over wine bottles rolling down the hill of seats. The robust sound system helps block out conversations of different patrons too.
I stay up for attending extra performances, understanding I’ll get pleasure from listening to the attractive music with out the prior years’ distractions or in any other case weaker sound capabilities. Thanks, Hollywood Bowl!

To the editor: Mark Swed wonders if “the newly potent sound waves solely make issues worse.” His query has been answered.
Primarily based on this previous Saturday’s live performance of three subpar rock bands, the mega-amplified sound was deafening and soul-crushing. It added nothing to the mediocre music, which was a part of our season subscriber lineup and never a private selection.
The Bowl made its reserving mistake worse by taking part in loud recorded music through the two hours previous to the reside live performance, requiring our foursome to amplify our voices to have a dialog throughout dinner in our terrace-level field. The “sonic beast” sound system wants a serious reset.
