WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will start a visit to a few Gulf nations on Tuesday (Jun 23) amid negotiations with Iran to finish the battle within the Center East, his spokesperson mentioned.

In his first journey to the area since the USA and Israel began the battle on February 28, Rubio will go to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain, State Division spokesman Tommy Pigott mentioned in a press release. The journey is scheduled to run via Thursday.

Rubio will focus on “the memorandum of understanding with Iran, efforts to safe full and free protected transit via the Strait of Hormuz, and the significance of peace and stability within the area,” the assertion mentioned.

In Bahrain on Thursday, Rubio can even meet with the Gulf Cooperation Council to debate widespread priorities with the area.

Rubio could have a troublesome job restoring belief with the Gulf states, which have been focused by Iran in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes.

Iran has accused Kuwait and Bahrain, host of the US Fifth Fleet, of permitting the USA to make use of their territories to launch assaults.

US Vice President JD Vance was in Switzerland on Sunday to hammer out an settlement with Iranian officers based mostly on the memorandum of understanding, which provides negotiators 60 days to forge an settlement.

The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has successfully blocked and thru which about 20 per cent of the world’s oil flows, is likely one of the key factors of the memorandum of understanding.
